After all these years, I look at you and you smile,
As you sit in your worn out old chair and read.
You always seem to know what I'm thinking,
Always seem to know just what I need.

Just yesterday we were young and love was brand new,
Looks were important and the future seemed so bright.
I couldn't bear to think of you holding anyone else's hand,
Thoughts of your smile filled my dreams each night.

You asked me to share your life permanently,
I was so afraid that I could barely breathe at all.
When you took a job that kept you away from home,
I paced the floor each night waiting for your call.

We raised a family through some hard times,
We buried loved ones and watched the years speed by.
I never turned to anyone else when I needed comfort,
You never seemed to mind holding me when I needed to cry.

You lost jobs and we struggled for money at times,
Still, we survived and held on to each other through it all.
We woke up one day and we had grown old overnight,
We had to be careful of how fast we walked to prevent a fall.

But side by side we have faced each day together,
Holding hands and ending each day with a gentle kiss.
Our time grows short but we don't have a single care,
As long as we can live and love like this.
Divider
Side by side to walk through this life together,
Sharing simple dreams and memories of yesterday.
You have given me more love than most people will know,
Everyone should be able to live their life this way.

After all these years, you're still the one for me,
I hope that I have always made you proud.
Just for old times sake, let's turn on the music,
We'll dance and sing "Our Song" out loud.
