Welcome

They go out on the frozen ice,
In front of judges and many fans,
To show that they have something special.

Many years of practice has brought them this far.
They do their triple axels and fancy spins,
Some even attempt a difficult quad!

Their minds are full of concentration.
They must erase from their minds all else,
So they will complete their jumps and not fall.

When they are done, the judges will award
High marks for a job well done...
Sometimes a perfect score of six!

It does not always go just right,
Sometimes they miss their jumps and fall.
But they pull out all their reserves,
Pick themselves up and carry on,
To show everyone they have the strength
To keep going and finish their routines.

And even with a fall in hand,
The judges can still award good marks!
They prove no one is perfect,
That we all can make mistakes.

But these figure skaters show us
It is okay to fall, to begin again,
It is all a part of life.
